The Radisson Hotel Group has announced the opening of the Radisson Collection Hotel, Waterfront Cape Town. This marks the first venture of the Radisson Collection in South Africa. The hotel on Cape Town’s Atlantic coastline has been extensively refurbished and blends modern sophistication with local heritage.
The hotel’s design is influenced by the area’s unique confluence of land and sea, reflecting the Atlantic Ocean’s power and serenity and the rugged beauty of Table Mountain. Materials like timber, brass, and stone mirror the raw landscapes of South Africa. At the same time, a color scheme of oceanic blues, sandy neutrals, and earthy tones complements patterns inspired by the region’s Kaapse Fynbos, vibrant fauna, and renowned Winelands.
The hotel’s interiors feature African craftsmanship, locally sourced materials and custom art installations that reflect Cape Town’s rich cultural tapestry. The hotel also houses a dedicated art gallery showcasing local fashion and architecture.
Tim Cordon, the Chief Operating Officer for the Middle East, Africa, and South East Asia Pacific at Radisson Hotel Group, expressed his delight at introducing the Radisson Collection brand to South Africa with this property. The hotel transformation elevates the landmark Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront to a destination that captures the essence of Cape Town.
The hotel offers 175 rooms and suites, each designed with an emphasis on comfort and sophistication. All rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies with views of the Atlantic Ocean or the marina. Additionally, the hotel uniquely emphasizes creating a balance between urban vibrancy and coastal tranquility.
Dining at the hotel offers a blend of local and international flavors, with a particular highlight being the renowned Tobago’s Restaurant, Bar, and Terrace. A refurbishment of the Tobago Restaurant and Terrace is planned for July 2025. The hotel also introduces Waveside Café, a luxury deli and café experience.
The hotel also provides a selection of flexible event spaces suitable for business functions and celebrations. It can accommodate up to 350 guests and has an intimate boardroom for smaller gatherings.
The hotel offers an infinity pool with ocean views, a 24-hour fitness center, and the Amani Spa and Wellness Center for leisure and wellness. The hotel’s general manager, Clinton Thom, emphasized the hotel’s commitment to offering an elevated experience that surpasses expectations.
